Handwriting Recognition
Handwriting Recognition is the process of converting hand written characters and converting them to type written (digital text). SmartWare in conjunction with the Anoto Technology has simplified and perfected this process. As a person writes on a pen enabled form, the Anoto captures the written text. Once the pen is docked to a computer the data is transferred to the Hand Writing Recognition Software. This software recognizes the handwritten information and converts it to type written text. While this is a complicated process, it is all done easily by the SmartWare hand recognition software. What the end user gets is an easy to use interface the shows both the handwritten form next to the digitized text, which removes the step of data entry.
The handwriting recognition is built into the package and all necessary licenses are included. This handwriting recognition has been used on Microsoft tablet PCs and is an industry standard. To improve the recognition, we have bundled it into the Smartware platform and SmartWare database. Recognition accuracy is improved by the use of background database libraries. These libraries can be custom created for any situation or market sector. There are also language libraries available. We can also compare against a database of images or signatures. Almost all database fields will have some expectation of values be it date, numerical, alpha, or a formatted value. This type of data validation greatly improves recognition.
